Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGIS) is Hyundai Motor Group’s open innovation lab that houses a vibrant ecosystem of researchers, technology, training providers and factory of the future, exploring business ideas and technologies to revolutionise the customer experience and future mobility solutions.
Not only did we fabricate and install their building signs and outdoor signage, the internal and external signs for the purposes of wayfinding, informational and safety were also planned and installed by our team.
With internal signs, external signs are needed as well. External signs are also used for the purposes of wayfinding, informational, directional or safety, but with the material meant for outdoors considered in mind.
Now we look into the signs that are meant for railings, floors and staircases.
Grade 316 stainless steel tactile signs
Tactile signs refers to markings designed to be felt and understood by touch. These signs are often used to assist individuals with visual impairments in navigating environments, such as public spaces or buildings. Tactile paving are raised surface patterns on walkways or stairs to indicate a change in environment, such as a curb or platform edge, to convey information or direct them with safety.
Tactile signs are commonly found in areas like transportation systems, public buildings, and educational facilities to promote accessibility and inclusivity. They also serve as friction purpose.
Aluminium anti-slip stair nosing
Aluminium anti-slip stair nosings and inserts are protective edges applied to the front of stair treads. They are designed to improve safety by providing additional grip, reducing the risk of slipping, and enhancing the durability of the stairs. They are fitted onto existing stairs or incorporated into new construction projects to enhance both safety and longevity.
- Material: Made from aluminium, which is lightweight, durable, and resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.
- Anti-slip surface: The nosing typically has an anti-slip insert or coating made from materials like rubber, PVC, or abrasive grit that provides traction.
- Function: Protects the edge of stairs from wear and tear, increases visibility of the step, and improves safety by reducing slip risks, especially in wet or slippery conditions.
- Aesthetics: Available in various finishes to match the decor, aluminium stair nosing can also be used for aesthetic purposes, providing a clean, modern look.
- Uses: Commonly used in high-traffic areas such as public buildings, industrial settings, or commercial spaces to ensure both safety and durability.
Braille signs are tactile signs installed on handrails to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating spaces such as staircases, ramps, or walkways. These signs often contain raised text along with Braille, which allows users to feel and read important information or directions.
Placement: Mounted directly on handrails, making them easily accessible for individuals who rely on touch for navigation. They’re typically placed at the start or end of railings or at key points along stairways or pathways.
Braille characters: These signs include Braille, which consists of raised dots that can be felt to spell out words or numbers, providing tactile guidance. Some also feature raised letters, numbers, or arrows to give additional tactile feedback.
Materials/Uses: Often made from durable materials like stainless steel, aluminium, or high-impact plastic, ensuring they withstand wear and environmental conditions. Found in public places like subway stations, airports, office buildings, and schools, providing navigation information, floor levels, or directional instructions for people with visual impairments.
Indoor vinyl stickers are a versatile and cost-effective way to personalize and enhance spaces with minimal effort. They are used for directions, warnings, and instructions, or decorating walls with custom designs, inspirational quotes, or art.
