Lighting Up the Skyline: Installing CapitaLand’s Front-Lit Signage
CapitaLand’s branding is a familiar sight across Singapore’s cityscape, clean, modern, and instantly recognisable. In 2022, we had the privilege of fabricating and installing a striking front-lit building sign for their headquarters at 21 Collyer Quay. By day, the sign reflects CapitaLand’s precise corporate colours; by night, this building sign transforms into a luminous beacon that commands attention.
CapitaLand is one of Asia’s largest diversified real estate groups, headquartered in Singapore, with a global portfolio spanning retail, commercial, residential, industrial, logistics, and hospitality sectors. With landmark projects across more than 40 countries, their focus on sustainability, innovation, and community impact makes their brand a symbol of forward-thinking urban development.

A Dual-Identity Design
The signage was designed with an intelligent dual-purpose approach using perforated stickers in CapitaLand’s corporate colours:
Daytime: The perforations are barely visible, allowing the brand’s official colours to appear solid and consistent with CapitaLand’s visual identity.
Nighttime: Internal LED lighting shines through the perforations, turning the logo into a crisp, bright silhouette without distorting its shape or proportions.
This approach ensures that the signage remains impactful and on-brand 24/7, adapting seamlessly to different lighting conditions (day and night) while maximising visibility from both near and far.

Working at Heights: The Gondola Challenge
Installing a large-scale sign on a high-rise façade is no small feat. In this case, a boom lift was not an option due to the building’s height and structure, so our team operated from a gondola system suspended from the rooftop.
From this moving platform, our skilled installers were able to:
Reach precise mounting points without causing any damage to the glass façade.
Maneuver and secure heavy signage components safely at significant heights.
Maintain exact positioning despite challenges like wind sway, sun glare, and constant platform movement.
The process demanded meticulous coordination between the rooftop team, gondola operators, and ground crew. Every step was executed with an emphasis on safety, precision, and structural integrity.

Grand Finale
This project came with a unique deadline — the signage had to be completed just before the Formula 1 Grand Prix in late September 2022. With the city brimming with visitors and global attention on Singapore’s skyline, timing was critical.
Our team worked to an accelerated schedule without compromising quality, ensuring the sign met both CapitaLand’s high standards and our own commitment to excellence. The result is a perfect example of how design, engineering, and craftsmanship can come together to bring a brand identity to life on a grand scale.
