The SPH Media News Centre in Singapore is a hub for media operations managed by SPH Media Trust, the organization that oversees major news publications such as The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian, and Tamil Murasu.
The News Centre serves as the operational base for editorial teams and other media functions. It is located in Toa Payoh, a central area in Singapore. We completed 2 sets of facade building signage for them, with the proposal of a sleek and more modern looking design. Combining the change of font with functionality, it is to enhance visibility and reinforce the brand identity.
With the removal of the old signage, we patched up defects, repainted the cladding and cleaned up all debris and residues to complete our new signage with a fresh looking facade. This is what we are here for – helping clients achieve an enhanced facade look complementing the signage, and not only by that itself; both have to come together to complete each other.
The first set was installed on this side of facade, serving as an identifier for the building for traffic from this direction. This signage was designed with a slightly more minimalistic approach while maintaining consistency with the corporate identity. It is widely spread across the top left side of the facade, bold, and attention-calling.
The second set was positioned on the other side of the facade to capture the attention of passersby from this side. This signage features bold letters crafted from high-grade metal and paints to ensure durability and weather resistance. The design incorporated the media center’s signature color palette and with “NEWS CENTRE” and the chinese translation “报业中心”, ensuring it stands out.
Both sets were meticulously installed with precision engineering to align with the simple architectural aesthetics of the building. The project seamlessly merged functionality, branding, and style to create a standout presence for the media news center. Also, the bold blue creates a strong first impression that resonates with audiences, helping to position the news center as a prominent branding and landmark.
