Designing High-Visibility Signage for HDB Hub

We’re proud to unveil one of our front-lit building signage installations in year 2025 – HDB Hub, the headquarters of Singapore’s Housing & Development Board, located at 480 Lor 6 Toa Payoh.

As the heart of Singapore’s public housing operations, HDB Hub is a landmark familiar to millions of residents who visit for public housing services, applications, lease matters, and consultations. Its building signage needed to clearly reflect HDB’s authority, service commitment, and strong national identity.

Big Image Group installed two large illuminated building signs on the prominent façades of the building using high-quality aluminium channel letters, acrylic faces, and concealed outdoor LEDs. By day, the signage enhances brand visibility from main traffic routes surrounding Toa Payoh Central. By night, the illumination amplifies recognition and ensures the landmark stands out clearly, even from a distance.

The goal was to deliver a clean, modern finish that aligns with HDB’s professional reputation and serves its function as a government public services hub.

Challenges of Installing Signage at Height in Toa Payoh

Given the sheer scale and height of the building signage, precision and expertise at height were essential. Our team deployed safe and efficient installation via Rope Access to minimise disruptions to the busy operations at HDB Hub.

Additional challenges included:

Navigating installation above active public spaces
Ensuring structural safety and alignment of large letter forms
Managing strict compliance around electrical works for external illumination
Delivering both signage sets within a tightly managed project timeline

Each component was carefully anchored to withstand Singapore’s weather conditions, from heavy rain to strong winds, ensuring strength, durability, and long-lasting performance.

Large-Scale Government Signage with a Lasting Impact

As a building that receives thousands of visitors daily and sits at the heart of Toa Payoh transport and community networks, HDB Hub required signage that is:

Visually strong from street level and afar
Prominently visible at night
Consistent with nationwide public service branding

With fully integrated LED lighting and premium materials, the final result delivers powerful visibility and a modern presence, reinforcing HDB’s dedication to serving Singaporeans.

This installation is one of many Government signage projects successfully completed. From design and fabrication to installation and safety compliance, every step of the process is executed in-house to ensure quality and responsibility at every stage.
