Aluminium building signage is a popular choice for businesses and companies due to its durability, versatility, and professional appearance. One of the more important factors is because it is anti-rust, meant to last for a longer time being outdoors under daily sun and rain.
Some misconceptions of outdoor signs are that other materials such as stainless steel or acrylic may be more suitable for anti-rust. This post will explain more in-depth of why aluminium is recommended, especially for facade and building signage.
The use of metal in a signage is for a few good reasons, especially:
- Versatility: Can be cut into various shapes and sizes, and can be customized with different finishes and colors besides just its raw silver finish.
- Professional Look: Offers a sleek, modern appearance that enhances the aesthetic of any interior or exterior look. Many industries, especially the finance sector, like going for the professional look for their branding.
However, the use of aluminium material for outdoor signs is to target these special factors:
- Durability: Resistant to rust and corrosion, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Aluminium is good for under daily sun and rain, especially in Singapore’s humid weather condition.
- Lightweight: Easier to handle and to install compared to other bulky and heavy metal signs which could require the use of lifting equipments (more time, labour and cost).
For our client Sanden, which is an automotive equipment and electrical equipment manufacturing company, we made use of both 3D and hollow cut out options in their building signage.
3D is an excellent way to create a bold and modern statement for a business or company. These 3D signs offer a striking, three-dimensional appearance that can enhance the visibility and aesthetic appeal of the building. Most building signage we see are 3D channel letters, compared to a flat 2D piece which can look quite underwhelming and dull.
On the other hand, Hollow cut out, also known as stencil cut, is a modern approach to signage these days. It adds an interesting touch to the signage with its “inverted 3D” effect. The hollow cut out, see through to the wall or back of the sign, shows also the nature of depth and shadows like the 3D element, making them more noticeable and attractive because of its contrast. Some hollow cut out signs include an acrylic piece and concealed LED for illumination from within.
We like a good challenge of incorporating both 3D and hollow cut out in a single signage for our client. Do not be afraid to explore different, multiple options, and limitless designs!
