(Front Lit – Building Signage)
Seamlessly integrated in our urban landscape Jurong Innovation District among other commercial buildings and residential flats, Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) – located at 2 Bulim Ave, Singapore 649674 – had their grand opening of this massive facility in November 2023 attended by Deputy Prime Minister Mr Lawrence Wong (officially the Prime Minister of Singapore on 15 May 2024), after we put up two sets of their building facade signage and some other signs within the compound.
A proper signage will represent a positive impression to all clients, passersby and potential consumers. Just imagine the building done up but without a building facade signage; it will look empty and directionless. In this article, we will uncover some challenges we faced of the outdoor signs done up for Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS). These are some factors that we progressively and strategically plan gradually to overcome and have also learned along the way of the installation process:

Challenge 1: Tight Timeline
As like every other construction and commercial projects that have tight schedules to meet, Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) had a highly sensitive timeline to meet, without us compromising the quality and planning of the signage we were going to put up on their building facade. With many years of experience in meeting customers’ urgency and timeline, we were confident to set the project as priority with our experienced project managers and installation teams.

Challenge 2: Pre-planned Structures
The newly built Hyundai Motor Group building facade fully made up of glass, with its sleek and modern aesthetics, represents also technical expertise and engineering fitnesse to install a signage on it with proper structural support. Precision skills of our fabrication and installation teams, including crucial factors such as load-bearing capacity and wind resistance, are needed to ensure the safe and secure attachment of the signage on glass to last for a long time.
Challenge 3: BCA Submission
We do Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Submission on behalf of clients, with detailed structural drawing and mostly coupled with Professional Engineering (PE) Endorsement. This submission ensures that the signage installed on the building is well-designed, constructed and maintained to high standards of safety.
With the Hyundai team from Korea, seeking our local authority’s approval is yet another challenge for them due to language barrier and unfamiliarity of local rules and regulations, thus this was a problem solved for them; on top of the concern on our side that the BCA submission and approval take time as we were rushing to start, produce, and deliver on time.

Challenge 4: Language Barrier
The meetings with the team of Hyundai Motor Group from South Korea on the signs our company could deliver to them were refreshing as always; they were all professional with friendly gestures, and the team embraces creativity and productive collaboration and partnership. Having worked with them for more than once, we gained and shared good learning insights. With their team being all Koreans, there was a little language barrier, especially letting them completely understand us on explaining our industry terms in Singapore accent, and vice versa. This, however, does not serve as a hinder to us, but in fact, a valuable learning experience of this partnership we cherish in our works.
As we deliver all the signage within the building to a complete handover to the company, a palpable sense of satisfaction filled the air – a commitment to ensure HMGICS launches their robotics smart factory for EVs a successful one with their trust in us. Our engineers, designers, sales and project managers, operations, production and installation teams – all brought to reality a vision that surpassed expectations.
